Cornwall Radon Gas Centre |
We provide a complete service to enable you or your company to determine whether you have a radon problem in your home or workplace and also methods to mitigate it. |
Employers have a duty of care to ensure the safety of their premises for their workforce and others. Radon is one of those concerns to be included in their assessments. |
We provide a specialist service, and clients can be assured of highly efficient systems and techniques for radon mitigation. In addition to measuring radon in air, the Centre offers ‘on site’ radon in water measurements. The manager of the centre is a member of the American Association of Radon Scientists and Technologists (AARST) and regularly visits the United States gathering information on how the problem is being tackled there. He recently attended a Seminar in Boston USA where he further researched methods for treating radon contaminated water supplies. |

Testing for Radon |
90 Day Alpha Track Measurements |
This is the preferred method of testing to obtain estimated yearly exposure levels. We offer alpha track devices from an NRPB validated laboratory. Postal and placement services are available. |
RAD 7 Continuous Radon Monitors |
These offer short term measurements (3 days +) under controlled conditions to obtain an indication of possible radon problems where time is not available, for longer tests, such as in house purchase or where it is suspected that high radon levels may exist. |
Radon in Water |
Underground water sources can be highly contaminated with dissolved radon. Well and borehole supplies are most at risk. To obtain an accurate measurement, careful sample collection is required. We provide an ‘on site’ measurement service and can also deal with posted samples. |
Grab Sample Testing |
RAD 7 ‘snapshot’ measurements are conducted in various ground floor rooms on the same day under controlled conditions. This type of testing is used to plot radon distribution as an aid in determining remedial approaches. |
These very short tests are not recommended in estimating average radon levels in a room or building. |
