Radioactive

The atoms of some naturally occurring ‘heavy’ elements are unstable in that they contain too many parts forming the nucleus. To correct this they release surplus energy and/or mass and in so doing evolve into other elements. This energy/particulate discharge is referred to as radioactivity.
